Handheld radio FSG 8, 8,33 kHz

Product information "Handheld radio FSG 8, 8,33 kHz"

The f.u.n.k.e. AVIONICS FSG8 is a rugged portable VHF/AM aviation radio for the aeronautical mobile service. It has been specifically designed for use as a mobile ground radio station and carries the corresponding approval from the German Federal Supervisory Authority for Air Navigation Services (BAF).

The FSG8 is the modern successor to the well-known f.u.n.k.e. FSG4 and FSG5 handheld radios. The characteristic and extremely robust die-cast aluminium housing has been retained, while the transmitter and receiver electronics have been extensively redesigned.

The radio supports both 8.33 kHz and 25 kHz channel spacing, making it suitable for current European aviation radio operations.

Approved as a Mobile Ground Radio Station

A major advantage of the FSG8 compared with many conventional handheld aviation radios is its approval as a mobile ground radio station for the aeronautical mobile service.

The radio has been tested in accordance with ETSI EN 300 676-1/2 and carries the approval BAF D-0061/2019.

This makes the FSG8 particularly suitable for professional and operational applications at airfields and aviation sites.

8.33 kHz and 25 kHz Channel Spacing

The FSG8 supports both aviation channel spacing standards:

25 kHz: 760 channels

8.33 kHz: 2,278 channels

The radio therefore satisfies the requirements for 8.33 kHz channel spacing.

Its frequency range extends from 118.000 to 136.975 MHz.

1.5 W Carrier Output / 5 W PEP

RF carrier output is typically 1.5 W into 50 ohms, corresponding to up to 5 W PEP.

The transmitter and receiver are derived from the proven ATR radio family from f.u.n.k.e. AVIONICS and have been adapted to meet the requirements for mobile ground radio operation.

Rugged Die-Cast Aluminium Housing

Like its FSG4 and FSG5 predecessors, the FSG8 features an extremely rugged die-cast aluminium housing.

The radio has been designed for regular mobile operation and is well suited to applications on the apron, at glider launch points or at other changing locations around an airfield.

Battery Indicator

An integrated battery indicator provides information about the current power supply status.

This allows the operator to identify when batteries need to be replaced or recharged during mobile operation.

Headphone Sidetone

During transmission, a sidetone is available through a connected headphone.

This allows the operator to monitor their own transmitted audio when using suitable audio equipment.

Extensive Connection Options

Various external components can be connected through the accessory connector.

These include:

Battery charger

External 12 V DC power supply

Protected 12 V DC output for special accessories

External dynamic microphone, 5 to 200 ohms

Additional headphones with an impedance of at least 30 ohms

External PTT switch

This allows the FSG8 to be adapted flexibly to different operating requirements.

Compatible with FSG4 and FSG5 Accessories

Another advantage for existing users of previous-generation equipment is accessory compatibility.

According to the manufacturer, accessories from the FSG4 and FSG5 can continue to be used with the FSG8.

This can be particularly useful for airfields and flying clubs that already own accessories for older f.u.n.k.e. handheld radios.
