ICOM IC-A25CE
Product information "ICOM IC-A25CE"
The ICOM IC-A25CE is a powerful and easy-to-operate 8.33 kHz VHF aviation handheld radio from the modern IC-A25 series. With approximately 6 W transmitter output, a large 2.3-inch LCD, 300 memory channels and a rugged IP57-rated housing, it is particularly suitable for pilots, flight schools and flying clubs as well as use as a high-quality backup radio in the cockpit.
The IC-A25CE is the COM version of the IC-A25 series. Unlike the IC-A25NE, this version does not include the additional GPS, Bluetooth and navigation functions and instead focuses on powerful and convenient VHF aviation communication.
Approx. 6 W Transmitter Output
The IC-A25CE provides approximately 6 W transmitter output.
Compared with previous ICOM handheld generations, transmitter performance has been increased to provide strong portable aviation communication capability.
Large 2.3-Inch LCD
A key feature of the IC-A25 series is its large and high-contrast 2.3-inch LCD.
The operating frequency is displayed with large digits for quick readability.
A dedicated night mode improves readability in dark conditions.
Intuitive Operation
Frequently used functions can be accessed directly from the keypad.
The large keypad and channel selector allow quick and intuitive operation, which is especially valuable in the cockpit when frequencies need to be changed rapidly.
Recall / Flip-Flop
The IC-A25CE automatically stores the 10 most recently used channels.
These can be recalled quickly using the navigation keys, keypad or channel selector.
Stored Recall channels can also be edited, deleted or reordered.
Nearest Station Function
With appropriately programmed station and position data, the IC-A25CE supports searching for nearby ground stations.
This can help the pilot find relevant radio stations more quickly.
300 Memory Channels
The IC-A25CE provides a total of 300 memory channels, organized into 15 memory groups.
Each memory channel can be assigned a name of up to 12 characters.
This allows airport, Tower, Ground, FIS and other frequencies to be organized clearly.
Emergency 121.5 MHz Function
The integrated Emergency function provides quick access to the international emergency frequency 121.500 MHz.
This enables a fast frequency change in an emergency without lengthy manual entry.
Priority Monitoring and Scan Functions
The IC-A25CE supports several monitoring and scan functions, including:
Priority monitoring
VFO scan
Memory scan
Priority scan
These functions allow relevant frequencies to be monitored conveniently.
ANL Noise Reduction
The integrated Automatic Noise Limiter (ANL) helps reduce pulse-type interference in the received signal.
This can improve communication intelligibility.
VOX Function
The IC-A25CE features an integrated VOX function.
When used with suitable accessories, this allows voice-activated operation.
Rugged IP57 Housing
The IC-A25CE is rated IP57 for dust and water protection.
This makes the radio suitable for demanding portable use in the cockpit or on the airfield.
Flexible Power Supply
The radio is normally powered by a rechargeable battery pack.
With the appropriate battery case, the radio can also be operated using six AA alkaline batteries.
This provides additional security on longer trips or when charging facilities are unavailable.

Difference Compared with the IC-A25NE:
The IC-A25CE is the communication-only version of the IC-A25 series.
Pilots who mainly require a high-quality handheld radio for VHF aviation communication and do not need additional navigation functions receive an attractive alternative to the IC-A25NE.
The IC-A25NE additionally provides integrated GPS, Bluetooth, VOR navigation, waypoint navigation and flight plan functions.
The IC-A25CE instead focuses on the essential communication functions while retaining the large display, intuitive operation and rugged construction of the IC-A25 series.
The ICOM IC-A25CE is therefore an excellent choice for pilots looking for a powerful, rugged and easy-to-operate 8.33 kHz handheld aviation radio without additional navigation functions.
With approx. 6 W transmitter output, a large 2.3-inch display, 300 memory channels, Emergency function, ANL noise reduction and IP57 protection, the radio is particularly well suited to regular portable use and as a reliable backup radio in the cockpit.
According to EN 300 676 this radio can be used as a ground based radio if no air navigation services are provided. For operation, a frequency allocation must be applied at the Federal Network Agency.
