AIR COM radio & AIR Control display Set
Product information "AIR COM radio & AIR Control display Set"
The AIR Avionics AIR COM & AIR Control Display Complete Set combines the compact AIR COM (AC-1) 8.33 kHz VHF aviation transceiver with the modern AIR Control Display ACD-57, creating a powerful and highly flexible avionics system.
Unlike the AIR COM radio module sold separately, this set already includes the AIR Control Display ACD-57 as the control unit as well as the mounting bracket for installing the AIR COM directly behind the display. The complete set therefore provides the essential components for a modern AIR COM installation.
The AIR COM was developed as a fully digital aviation radio and combines compact dimensions and low weight with modern signal and audio processing. Features such as Dual Watch, Say Again, integrated intercom and comprehensive audio functions make the system a modern alternative to conventional panel-mounted aviation radios.
The AIR Control Display ACD-57 serves as the central control unit. Its large, high-resolution colour display provides excellent readability, even in bright sunlight, while offering intuitive operation of the connected AIR COM.
AIR COM – Modern Digital Aviation Radio
The AIR COM (AC-1) is a compact VHF aviation transceiver with 8.33 kHz channel spacing. Thanks to its fully digital architecture, the system provides comprehensive audio and convenience functions in addition to standard radio communication.
The integrated intercom provides communication within the cockpit and can eliminate the need for a separate intercom system in many installations.
External audio signals can also be integrated, while the audio inputs and outputs can be configured to suit the individual aircraft installation.
Dual Watch – Monitor Two Frequencies Simultaneously
The integrated Dual Watch function allows two radio channels to be monitored simultaneously.
A particular advantage of the AIR COM system is that the volume levels of the primary channel and DUAL/MON channel can be adjusted independently. This allows the monitored secondary frequency to be individually adapted to the current flight situation.
Say Again – Replay the Last Radio Transmission
A particularly useful feature of AIR COM is Say Again.
Previously received radio transmissions can be replayed. If a call sign, frequency or instruction was not fully understood, the pilot can simply listen to the most recently received transmission again.
This can be particularly useful during high-workload phases of flight.
AIR Control Display ACD-57
The included AIR Control Display ACD-57 is considerably more than a simple control head for the radio.
The compact multifunction display was designed for a standard 57 mm / 2¼-inch instrument panel cutout and provides a particularly large display area within its compact dimensions.
The brilliant colour display offers a wide viewing angle and excellent readability even in direct sunlight. At the same time, the system has been designed for low power consumption.
Operation is via four buttons and a concentric dual rotary control with push function. The user interface automatically adapts to the connected and activated functions.
Airfield Database and NEAREST Function
When used with a valid frequency database, the ACD-57 provides convenient access to aviation communication frequencies.
Available functions include:
Airfield database
Station names for radio frequencies
Frequency memories
Frequency history
GPS interface
NEAREST airport / station function
Quick manual frequency entry
The NEAREST function can be used, for example, to display nearby stations and select the required frequency directly.
The standard scope of delivery of the AIR Control Display includes a voucher for two years of free frequency database updates.
Flexible Installation
AIR COM and AIR Control Display can be installed in different configurations.
For a particularly compact installation, the AIR COM can be mounted directly behind the ACD-57 using the mounting bracket included in this set. The AIR COM and display then form a compact unit.
In this configuration, the total system length is only approximately 141 mm.
Alternatively, AIR COM and ACD-57 can be installed separately. The radio module can be mounted at another suitable location within the aircraft, while only the compact display is installed in the instrument panel.
This flexibility is particularly advantageous in cockpits with limited installation space.
Multiple Displays and Tandem Cockpits
The modular AIR Avionics concept also allows multiple AIR Control Displays to be installed within one aircraft.
This can be particularly useful in gliders, motor gliders and other aircraft with tandem seating arrangements.
The connected displays are synchronized via the integrated CANaerospace system.
Expandable with Transponder and Altimeter Functions
A major advantage of the AIR Control Display is its expandability.
The ACD-57 can control not only the AIR COM but also compatible AIR Avionics transponders and selected transponders from other manufacturers.
This makes it possible, for example, to control both the radio and transponder from a single 57 mm display.
The ACD-57 also features an integrated altitude encoder and, with the appropriate optional software licence, can be used as a fully ETSO-approved altimeter.
Depending on the configuration, a single compact 57 mm unit can therefore combine the functions of:
Radio control head
Transponder control head
Altimeter
Some of these additional functions require separately available hardware and/or software licences.

The AIR Avionics AIR COM & AIR Control Display Complete Set is an excellent solution for pilots and aircraft owners looking for a modern, compact and flexibly expandable 8.33 kHz aviation communication system. The combination of AIR COM, a large sunlight-readable colour display, Dual Watch, Say Again, integrated intercom, airfield database and NEAREST function provides a high level of operating convenience while requiring very little instrument panel space.
The ability to later integrate a compatible transponder or certified altimeter functionality into the ACD-57 makes the system particularly attractive for modern cockpits where multiple avionics functions need to be accommodated within a limited amount of instrument panel space.
