The Becker Avionics RCU6211 is a compact Remote Control Unit for the Becker Avionics 6200 Series. It is designed in particular as a separate control head for the RT6211 Remote Transceiver, enabling a space-saving and highly flexible aviation radio installation.

The control unit is installed in the instrument panel, while the actual RT6211 transceiver can be mounted at a suitable location elsewhere within the aircraft. This makes the combination of RCU6211 and RT6211 particularly suitable for cockpits with limited panel space and installations where the radio transceiver and control unit need to be physically separated.

The RCU6211 supports both 8.33 kHz and 25 kHz channel spacing and features a clear illuminated display for convenient operation under different lighting conditions.

Control Unit for the RT6211

Together with a Becker Avionics RT6211, the RCU6211 forms a complete remote aviation communication system.

The RT6211 provides the actual radio and audio processing, while the RCU6211 serves as the cockpit control interface.

The essential functions of the connected aviation radio can be conveniently controlled from the RCU6211.

The remote concept offers an important advantage: only the compact control head needs to be installed in the instrument panel, while the transceiver itself can be positioned independently at another suitable location within the aircraft.

8.33 kHz and 25 kHz Channel Spacing

The RCU6211 supports both modern 8.33 kHz and conventional 25 kHz channel spacing.

When used with a compatible Becker 6200 Series transceiver, the system supports up to:

760 channels with 25 kHz spacing

2,280 channels with 8.33 kHz spacing

This makes the system suitable for current European 8.33 kHz aviation communication requirements.

Illuminated Display

The RCU6211 features a clear display with adjustable backlighting.

The illumination provides good readability under a wide range of lighting conditions, from bright daylight to night operations.

The compact user interface was specifically designed for cockpit use and provides quick access to the essential radio functions.

Compact 58 mm Installation Format

A major advantage of the RCU6211 is its compact design.

The control unit has front dimensions of approximately 61 × 61 mm and is designed for installation in a standard 58 mm / 2¼-inch round instrument cutout.

This allows the RCU6211 to be integrated into many conventional aircraft instrument panels.

The required installation depth behind the instrument panel is only approximately 45 mm without connectors.

This is particularly advantageous in aircraft where space behind the instrument panel is limited.

Only Approx. 200 g

The RCU6211 weighs only approximately 200 g.

By separating the control head from the transceiver, the weight of the actual radio module can be positioned at a suitable location within the aircraft, while only the lightweight control unit is installed in the instrument panel.

DAL C – For Demanding Avionics Installations

The RCU6211 belongs to Becker Avionics' newer 621X series and features Design Assurance Level C (DAL C).

The previous RCU6201 belongs to the 620X generation with DAL D.

The RCU6211 is therefore particularly suitable for demanding certified avionics installations requiring the higher design assurance level of the 621X series.

Tandem Configurations

The RCU6211 is also suitable for tandem installations and additional control positions.

Depending on the system configuration, radio functions can therefore be controlled from different positions within the aircraft.

The RCU6211 is installed in a position within easy reach and view of the pilot.

The RT6211 Remote Transceiver can be mounted independently at another suitable location within the aircraft.

This allows available installation space to be used efficiently and provides greater freedom when designing or upgrading an avionics installation.

Compatibility with RT6211:

The RCU6211 is the appropriate separate control unit for the Becker Avionics RT6211 Remote Transceiver.

The RT6211 itself does not feature an integrated control panel. Operation of the radio is therefore provided through a compatible Remote Control Unit such as the RCU6211.

This allows the control unit and transceiver to be installed separately within the aircraft.

Tandem Operation:

The RCU62 series was also designed for tandem configurations and additional control positions.

This makes the system particularly suitable for training aircraft, gliders, motor gliders and other aircraft where radio operation from more than one cockpit position is required.

Approvals:

The RCU6211 belongs to Becker Avionics' 621X series and features Design Assurance Level C (DAL C).

Depending on the exact RCU6211 variant and installation, the applicable Becker Avionics certification and approval documentation must be observed.

Installation:

The RCU6211 is installed in the aircraft instrument panel and connected to a compatible Becker Avionics radio system.

When used with an RT6211, the actual Remote Transceiver can be installed independently of the control head at a suitable location within the aircraft.

Installation must be carried out in accordance with the applicable airworthiness, regulatory, technical and approval requirements for the respective aircraft.
