Becker Avionics Transceiver RT 6211, 6 W
Product information "Becker Avionics Transceiver RT 6211, 6 W"
The Becker Avionics RT6211, 6 W is a professional remotely installed VHF/AM aviation transceiver with 8.33 kHz and 25 kHz channel spacing, designed for demanding and certified avionics installations. As the successor to the proven RT6201, the RT6211 combines compact dimensions, low weight and modern digital signal processing with comprehensive communication and audio functions.
The RT6211 series features Design Assurance Level C (DAL C), meeting higher development and certification requirements than the previous RT6201 series with DAL D.
Unlike a conventional panel-mounted aviation radio, the RT6211 has no integrated control panel. The radio module is installed at a suitable location within the aircraft and operated via a separate control unit, such as the Becker Avionics RCU6211.
This remote concept provides exceptional installation flexibility and is particularly suitable for cockpits with limited instrument panel space or applications where the transceiver needs to be positioned independently of the control unit.
DAL C – For Demanding Avionics Installations
An important feature of the RT6211 is its Design Assurance Level C (DAL C).
Compared with the previous RT6201 with DAL D, the RT6211 series meets more stringent development and verification requirements.
This makes the RT6211 particularly suitable for demanding certified avionics installations and professional aviation applications.
8.33 kHz and 25 kHz Channel Spacing
The RT6211 supports both modern 8.33 kHz and conventional 25 kHz channel spacing.
The complete VHF aviation communication band is covered.
Up to 760 channels are available with 25 kHz spacing, while up to 2,280 channels can be used with 8.33 kHz spacing.
The radio therefore meets the requirements for European 8.33 kHz aviation communication.
6 W Transmitter Output
This model is the 6 W version RT6211-(020).
RF transmitter output is:
at least 6 W with a 14 V aircraft electrical system
at least 6 W with a 28 V aircraft electrical system
The full specified 6 W transmitter output is therefore available in both typical 12/14 V and 24/28 V installations.
For applications requiring higher transmitter output, the RT6211 is also available in a version providing up to 10 W at 28 V.
Modern Digital Signal Processing
The Becker Avionics 6200 Series uses modern Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology.
The high level of digital integration provides efficient signal processing while maintaining compact dimensions and low weight.
The system is designed to provide reliable and intelligible radio communication under typical aviation operating conditions.
Dual Watch / SCAN Mode
The RT6211 supports Becker's Dual Watch function, also referred to as SCAN Mode.
This allows a second frequency to be monitored in addition to the active frequency.
For example, the pilot can communicate on the active frequency while simultaneously monitoring the standby frequency for incoming transmissions.
This is particularly useful when preparing for a frequency change or monitoring another relevant radio channel.
Integrated 4-Place Intercom
The 6 W version of the RT6211 features an integrated 4-place intercom.
The system supports two separate intercom circuits and provides comprehensive integration options for different headset and cockpit configurations.
In many installations, this can eliminate the need for an additional standalone intercom system.
AUX Audio Input
The integrated AUX audio input allows additional audio signals to be connected to the system.
This can be used, for example, to reproduce audio warnings or signals from other avionics equipment through the connected headsets.
Powerful Loudspeaker Output
In addition to the headphone outputs, the Becker 6200 Series provides an output for an external cockpit loudspeaker.
Output power is at least 4 W into 4 ohms.
With a suitable installation, the radio can therefore directly drive an appropriate cockpit loudspeaker.
Remote Installation
The RT6211 was specifically designed for remote installation.
The transceiver module can be mounted independently of the instrument panel at a suitable location within the aircraft.
Operation is provided through a separate control unit.
A typical installation consists of:
Becker Avionics RT6211 Remote Transceiver
Becker Avionics RCU6211 Remote Control Unit
The RCU6211 is designed for installation in a standard 58 mm / 2¼-inch instrument cutout and requires very little instrument panel space.
Separating the radio module from the control unit allows the available installation space to be used particularly efficiently.
Tandem Operation
The Becker 6200 Series also supports tandem configurations.
This is particularly useful for gliders, motor gliders, training aircraft and other aircraft with tandem seating arrangements.
Depending on the installation, additional control positions can be provided, allowing the radio to be operated from different cockpit positions.
Wide Supply Voltage Range
The RT6211 operates over a wide supply voltage range, making it suitable for both typical 12/14 V and 24/28 V aircraft electrical systems.
A lower voltage range is also provided for limited emergency operation.
Compact and Lightweight
A major advantage of the remote concept is the compact design of the transceiver module itself.
The RT6211 weighs only approximately 600 g.
With mounting frame, the radio module measures approximately:
Width: 67 mm
Height: 40 mm
Length: 188 mm
This allows the unit to be installed flexibly at a suitable location within the aircraft.
Robust Design
The Becker Avionics 6200 Series was developed for professional aviation applications.
The remote radio module is designed for an extended operating temperature range, making it suitable for installation locations outside the immediately heated cockpit area.
Its robust construction is intended to provide high reliability and long service life.
