Trig VHF Radio TY91

Product information "Trig VHF Radio TY91"

The Trig TY91 is an exceptionally compact and lightweight VHF/AM aviation transceiver with 8.33 kHz and 25 kHz channel spacing, specifically designed for aircraft with limited instrument panel space. By separating the radio module from the TC90 control head, the system offers exceptional installation flexibility and is particularly suitable for gliders, motor gliders, ultralight aircraft and other General Aviation aircraft.

The TY91 supports both 8.33 kHz and 25 kHz channel spacing, making it suitable for current European aviation communication requirements as well as conventional 25 kHz operation.

With an RF transmitter output power of 6 watts, the TY91 provides powerful and reliable communication for most General Aviation applications.

A major advantage of the TY91 is its two-part system design. The actual radio module can be installed remotely at a suitable location within the aircraft, while only the compact TC90 control head needs to be mounted in the instrument panel.

This significantly reduces the amount of panel space required. The TC90 control head measures only approximately 44 × 63 × 35 mm and can be installed either in a standard 57 mm / 2¼-inch round instrument cutout or in a compact rectangular panel opening.

The clear and bright display simultaneously shows the active and standby frequencies and is designed to provide excellent readability under varying cockpit lighting conditions.

The convenient Push-Step rotary control allows quick switching between 8.33 kHz and 25 kHz frequency selection, making frequency changes fast and intuitive.

A particularly useful feature is Dual Watch, which allows the active and standby frequencies to be monitored simultaneously. This enables the pilot to communicate on the active frequency while monitoring another relevant frequency at the same time.

The TY91 also features an integrated 2-place intercom for pilot and co-pilot. Various adjustment options allow the intercom to be adapted to different headsets and cockpit noise levels.

The intercom is optimized for use with standard aviation headsets. When using a dynamic microphone, an appropriate amplified adapter is required according to Trig.

The TY91 also includes an integrated audio amplifier for an external loudspeaker. This allows the radio to be used in installations where communications are reproduced through a cockpit speaker, which can be particularly useful in certain glider installations.

For frequently used frequencies, 9 programmable frequency memory locations are available, allowing regularly required frequencies to be recalled quickly.

The wide 11 to 33 V DC supply voltage range allows operation with both typical 12 V and 24 V aircraft electrical systems without requiring a special voltage configuration.

The remote radio module measures only approximately 48 × 66 × 160 mm. Thanks to the separate installation concept, the module can be mounted behind the instrument panel or at another suitable location within the aircraft.

The complete system weighs only approximately 460 g, making it particularly attractive for aircraft where low weight is an important consideration.

For aircraft with tandem seating, one TY91 can be operated with two TC90 control heads. This allows the same radio to be controlled from both the front and rear cockpit positions.

The TY91 is fully certified for aviation use and complies with the relevant ETSO and TSO requirements.

Dual Watch:

The integrated Dual Watch function allows two frequencies to be monitored simultaneously.

For example, the active frequency can be used for communication while the standby frequency is simultaneously monitored for incoming transmissions.

Integrated Intercom:

The TY91 features an integrated 2-place intercom for pilot and co-pilot.

The intercom is optimized for standard aviation headsets and can be adjusted to suit different cockpit and noise conditions.

When using a dynamic microphone, an appropriate amplified adapter is required.

Flexible Installation:

The TY91 consists of two main components:

TC90 Control Head

TY91 Radio Module

The compact TC90 control head is installed in the instrument panel, while the actual radio module can be mounted separately at a suitable location within the aircraft.

This means the system requires considerably less instrument panel space than a conventional aviation radio with an integrated transceiver module.

Tandem Cockpit / Second Control Head:

One TY91 can be operated with two TC90 control heads.

This configuration is particularly useful for gliders, motor gliders and other aircraft with tandem seating arrangements. The radio can therefore be operated from both cockpit positions.

A second TC90 control head is available separately.

Installation:

The TC90 control head can be installed either in a standard 57 mm / 2¼-inch round instrument cutout or in a compact rectangular panel opening.

The actual TY91 radio module is installed separately at a suitable location within the aircraft.

Installation must be carried out in accordance with the applicable airworthiness, regulatory and technical requirements for the respective aircraft.

The Trig TY91 is an excellent choice for pilots and aircraft owners looking for a compact, lightweight and flexibly installable 8.33 kHz aviation transceiver. With 6 W transmitter output power, Dual Watch, an integrated 2-place intercom, 9 frequency memories and a total system weight of only approximately 460 g, the TY91 provides comprehensive functionality while requiring very little instrument panel space. Its remote radio module and the option of adding a second control head make the system particularly attractive for gliders, motor gliders, ultralight aircraft and tandem cockpits.
