TQ Aviation Radio KRT2-S
Product information "TQ Aviation Radio KRT2-S"
Estimated delivery date approx. late August
The TQ KRT2-S is an exceptionally compact and lightweight VHF/AM aviation transceiver with 8.33 kHz and 25 kHz channel spacing for permanent installation in aircraft. Weighing only approximately 360 g, with an installation depth of just 144 mm and a standard 57 mm / 2¼-inch round instrument format, the KRT2-S is particularly suitable for installations where low weight and compact dimensions are important.
The KRT2-S covers the complete VHF aviation communication band and supports both 8.33 kHz and 25 kHz channel spacing. A total of 2,278 channels are available in combined 8.33/25 kHz operation.
With an RF transmitter output power of 6 watts, the KRT2-S provides powerful and reliable communication for a wide range of aircraft – from gliders and motor gliders to ultralight and powered aircraft.
A particularly useful feature of the KRT2-S is its integrated Dual Watch function. This allows two different frequencies to be monitored simultaneously. The two frequencies are acoustically differentiated, helping the pilot identify which frequency a received transmission originates from.
The high-resolution TFT colour display has been specifically designed for cockpit use and provides excellent readability even in bright ambient light. Active and standby frequencies as well as other relevant information are clearly displayed.
For frequently used frequencies, the KRT2-S provides 100 freely programmable memory locations. Each stored frequency can be assigned an individual name of up to 8 characters, allowing airport, FIS and other frequently used frequencies to be quickly identified and recalled.
The KRT2-S also features an integrated intercom. Two microphone inputs allow the connection of standard or dynamic microphones. In many installations, this eliminates the need for a separate intercom system.
An additional audio input allows external audio sources to be integrated into the aircraft audio system.
The largely digital electronics provide high frequency stability and reliable communication while maintaining low power consumption.
An additional safety feature protects against accidental continuous transmission. If the Push-to-Talk button remains activated, the transmitter automatically switches off after two minutes to prevent the radio frequency from being continuously blocked.
The wide 9 to 33 V DC supply voltage range allows operation with both typical 12 V and 24 V aircraft electrical systems.
The KRT2-S can also be combined with the separately available KRT2 Remote Control Unit. This provides a second control position and is particularly useful for aircraft with tandem seating, allowing the radio to be operated from both cockpit positions.
Adapter solutions are also available for various older aviation radios. Depending on the existing installation, these can simplify the replacement of an existing transceiver.

Safety Functions:
To prevent accidental continuous transmission and prolonged blocking of a radio frequency, the KRT2-S features an automatic transmission time limit.
After 2 minutes of continuous transmission, the transmitter is automatically switched off.
Remote Control:
The KRT2-S can be expanded with the separately available KRT2 Remote Control Unit, providing a second operating position.
This is particularly useful for gliders, motor gliders and other aircraft with tandem seating arrangements. The remote unit allows the radio to be controlled from a second cockpit position.
Installation:
The KRT2-S is designed for installation in a standard 57 mm / 2¼-inch instrument panel cutout.
With an installation depth of only approximately 144 mm without connector and a weight of just 360 g, the unit is also well suited to cockpits with limited installation space.
Electrical installation is carried out via the connector on the rear of the unit. A suitable wiring harness with open cable ends and additional installation components are available separately.
Installation must be carried out in accordance with the applicable airworthiness, regulatory and technical requirements for the respective aircraft.
