The GATS Jar – Fuel Tester
Product information "The GATS Jar – Fuel Tester"
The GATS jar is a fuel testing device designed to safely separate water and debris from AVGAS and jet fuel. It allows the purified fuel to be returned to the aircraft tank without reintroducing contaminants.
Key Features:
Reliably separates water and debris.
Visually identifies jet fuel contamination in AVGAS.
Compatible with Jet A, AVGAS, automotive fuel, and diesel.
Storage:
After use, store in the provided plastic bag.
How it Works:
Separator Screen:
Separates water but allows fuel to pass.
Always pre-coat the screen with fuel before contact with water.
Dry the screen thoroughly if exposed to water, replace damaged screens.
Sump Valve Actuator:
Reversible and suitable for all valve types.
Seal:
Correctly position the O-ring between the screen housing and collection jar (without lubricant).
Testing for Jet Fuel in AVGAS:
AVGAS evaporates completely, whereas jet fuel leaves an oily residue.
Coat the screen, blow gently for 30 seconds; residues indicate jet fuel contamination.
As little as 5% jet fuel contamination can be detected; any detectable contamination is critical.
Operation:
Inspect the screen for damage.
Choose the appropriate actuator tip.
Draw and check fuel samples during pre-flight inspection.
Remove excess water through the bypass.
Clean and dry the screen after use.
Return fuel to the aircraft tank.
Dispose of separated water separately.
AVGAS users: Gently blow on the screen to check for jet fuel residue.
Note: Never discard fuel samples onto the ground; test each tank individually.
